I’m not going to lie, this is the third time I’ve tried to start a blog. But I think it’s for real this time. I’ve been so inspired to write and share my reflections over the last few months I thought heck, might as well try this thing again! But this isn’t going to be your traditional “blog.”
My hopes with this blog is to always be uncensored, “raw, real and unfiltered.” I’ve always had an obsession with the truth. Perhaps that’s what attracted me to do my undergrad in journalism. I’m hoping through this platform I can share my truths and discoveries with you, in hopes you can relate.
Now let’s get into it- how’s your heart been? How are you doing in this seemingly post apocalyptic world? We’re certainly living in crazy, unprecedented times. I think everyone is just trying to stay afloat and adapt. Who saw this all coming? I sure as hell didn’t. But I wanted my first blog post to be, err, maybe a change of perspective for you.
You’ll find I’m quite a spiritual person. I’ll probably write about that a lot on here. My spirituality has been my anchor for the past few years. It’s saved me in dark places. So naturally, to me this whole Covid-19 pandemic has happened for a reason. When you look at how much the earth has been healing for example, it’s hard to believe it hasn’t.
Look, I’m just as annoyed as the next person. I’m not saying at all that this pandemic is an amazing thing. I want to go to public places with my friends and have wine at my favourite restaurants just as much as the next person. However, I’m just saying that if you use this time wisely, it can be a period of intense reflection. I know it has been for me, maybe it has been for you too, I almost feel this shift in collective consciousness/awakening.
It’s really allowed me to take inventory of my life. That’s what I mainly wanted to focus on in this first post. What are you allowing in your life? What are you choosing or “settling for?” Has this time made you look at your job differently, do you love it? Or absolutely loathe it? Maybe it’s time for a change. What about the people you surround yourself with? How are your relationships: both romantic and friendship? Who’s really there for you when you need them the most? Who are you just “tolerating” as a friend who never really shows up for you and doesn’t add value to your life? Surrounding yourself with people who uplift you and support you can be a game changer from getting to one place to where you want to be. Trust me on this one.
What’s going to make you truly happy in this one, precious shot we have at this life? Or are you okay with settling? These are all questions I’ve pondered and really decided to take action on. This almost “collective pause,” opportunity to breathe if you want to look at it that way (also I know many people are working hard from home too but for those of you that are- maybe this has made you realize how much you enjoy and crave being location independent instead of cooped up in a fluorescent light filled office all day). The world as we know it will never be the same after this. It’s a pretty crazy thought, but it’s true. And maybe it’s all for the better.
